Mairin Mancino
Senior Director, Health Care, NORC at the University of Chicago
Mairin Mancino is a senior director at NORC with over 15 years of experience in health care policy, strategy, and government affairs. In her role, she works to leverage the depth and breadth of NORC’s diverse social sciences expertise and research assets to help health care clients meet their business objectives.
Prior to joining NORC, Mancino was system director of policy and advocacy at Summa Health in Akron, Ohio. Summa is an integrated-delivery system with a 4.5 Star Medicare Advantage and commercial insurance plan, as well as an accountable care organization (ACO). In that role, she worked cross-functionally with the executive team to interpret and respond to public policy issues. She also helped the health plan, medical group, and ACO implement operational changes needed to succeed in a changing regulatory environment. At Summa, Mancino played a central role in launching a ground-breaking emergency department medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder program. The program – called First Step – offers 24/7 access to MAT services, coordinated with long-term treatment options, peer recovery coaches, and comprehensive interventions for social determinants of health. Mancino also worked closely with the population health and health plan teams on effective implementation of state and federal reform programs and demonstrations. Specifically, she assisted the health plan product development team in their 2019 bidding strategy related to offer non-emergent medical transportation and home modification supplemental benefits to Medicare Advantage enrollees.
Prior to Summa, Mancino worked for 7 years in health care consulting as a vice president at Avalere Health, where she delivered policy and strategic support to health plans, provider organizations, pharmacy benefit managers, health IT companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and investors. At Avalere, she held a leadership position within a 26-person practice group focused on delivering analysis, strategic advice, and business planning related to health care policy developments stemming from the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Mancino graduated Magna Cum Laude from Amherst College with a degree in American Studies.
