Washington, D.C. – As the calendar turns to fall, Americans deserve the most advanced, effective treatments and therapies to protect them from the flu – particularly as COVID-19 continues to spread. Nearly all Americans with comprehensive health insurance coverage can receive an annual flu shot with no out-of-pocket cost, and health insurance providers are taking steps to increase the vaccination rates for children and adults. A new AHIP infographic highlights the value of the vaccine, which can reduce the risk of a flu-related intensive-care admission by 82% among adults. Flu vaccines are proven to save lives, protecting the health of the most at-risk individuals, including older Americans and communities of color.
