WASHINGTON, D.C. – Matt Eyles, president and CEO of America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), issued this statement as the House of Representatives continues to consider H.R.19, the Lower Costs, More Cures Act:
“Drug prices are out of control. And hardworking families feel the consequences every day.
“We appreciate Congress’ continued energy and commitment to bring down out-of-control drug prices. For too long, drug makers have been price gouging Americans with the prices that they, and they alone, set and control. We support the shared goal of lower health care costs and drug prices for everyone.
“We encourage Congress and the Administration to continue their work toward bipartisan, bicameral solutions, and to reject proposals that would result in higher premiums and costs for seniors, taxpayers, and hardworking American families. We look forward to providing additional input to policymakers to improve health care affordability for every American.”
