Board Welcomes New Members Cain Hayes, President and CEO of Point32Health, and Eric C. Hunter, President and CEO of CareOregon
AHIP’s Board of Directors has elected David L. Holmberg, President and CEO of Highmark Health, Board Chair for the association, effective January 1, 2022. Holmberg will take the helm from Bruce D. Broussard, President and CEO of Humana Inc., who is serving as AHIP Board Chair through 2021.
“Americans are clear: They are looking for collaboration across health care for better experiences, better outcomes, and lower costs,” Holmberg said. “AHIP is committed to solutions that increase value, improve equity, and result in better overall health. I am looking forward to engaging as Board Chair as we look ahead to 2022.”
As president and CEO of Highmark Health, Holmberg leads a $21 billion health insurance provider and regional hospital and physician network. Holmberg is a thought leader in improving affordability, access, and value in health care, including improving the whole patient experience, introducing innovation that improves the patient and consumer experience, and collaborating across the industry to align incentives and deliver greater value.
“When patients have more control over their coverage and care choices, they are better able to get what they need, when they need it, at a price they can afford,” said Matt Eyles, AHIP President and CEO. “We greatly appreciate Bruce’s leadership through the continuing COVID-19 pandemic as we continued to deliver on our vision to guide greater health for Americans. We are very excited to have David as next year’s Chair as we continue to advocate for competitive, private-market solutions to improve health care for everyone that health insurance providers serve.”
The AHIP Board also welcomed the following new members:
- Cain A. Hayes, President and CEO, Point32Health
- Eric C. Hunter, President and CEO, CareOregon
“AHIP is fortunate to have many talented leaders representing health insurance providers of all sizes, structures, and strategies, who are all united in their commitment to improving health care,” Eyles said. “Together, we will continue to support policy solutions that result in better care and access for every American.”
