Every American deserves access to comprehensive, affordable health care coverage, including patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD). For decades, employer-provided coverage has provided hardworking American families with effective ways to improve their health and financial security – including those with ESRD and other forms of kidney disease.
Employer-provided coverage offers widespread and generous coverage of renal dialysis and treatment services for those with ESRD and other forms of chronic kidney disease (CKD) – it’s in the best interest of employees and and their families. Health insurance providers engage in a wide variety of activities and programs designed to improve health care access, quality, and value for the populations they serve. Our member companies implement policies that protect patient safety, emphasize evidence-based care, drive better health outcomes, and support quality reporting. In April-May 2023, AHIP conducted a survey to collect data on employer sponsored health plans’ current practices in delivering medical services to members with ESRD and CKD.
