Virgil Miller

President, Aflac US

Virgil Miller, deputy president of Aflac U.S., directs our core sales operations, service operations and information technology for the Aflac U.S. organization. Virgil is a champion for driving growth by leading with innovation in overseeing our customer experience and digital journey. Additionally, he maintains responsibility of profit and loss for our Aflac Individual, Aflac Group, Aflac Network Dental & Vision, and our Life, Absence Management & Disability business divisions.

Virgil joined Aflac in 2004. His ability to understand and meet the ever-changing customer and market expectations has created various promotional opportunities of increasing responsibility throughout his tenure. Virgil has held titles to include vice president of Client Services and Aflac’s Transformation office, senior vice president Chief Administration Officer, Chief Operating Officer Aflac U.S., executive vice president and President of Aflac Group & Individual Benefits, and now, deputy president of Aflac U.S.

With over 30 years of industry experience, Virgil has been recognized with several accolades and business honors to celebrate his leadership and accomplishments. In 2018, Virgil was a recipient of the prestigious Stevie Award by the American Business Association for Executive of the Year in the insurance industry. He was named one of Columbia Business Monthly’s 50 Most Influential Individuals for 2019 and to Savoy’s list of 2020 Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America. More recently, Virgil was awarded Insurance Executive of the Year by both the 2020 BIG Innovation Awards and Business Intelligence Group’s 2020 Excellence in Customer Service Award.

Virgil served as a U.S. Marine and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Georgia College, a master’s degree in business management from Wesleyan College and a doctorate in humane letters from Gammon Theological Seminary. Virgil serves on the board of trustees for PlanSource via Vista Equity Partners, America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, and Claflin University. He is also the current co-chair of the SEUS-Japan Association.
