Brian Carlson
Vice President, Patience Experience, Vanderbilt Health
Brian has worked in healthcare since 2000, specifically in the academic medicine and physician group practice management arena. Brian is a former COO and CEO of a private group of physicians in New York. Currently, he is the Vice President of Patient Experience for Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he has worked since 2007.
He has served in several roles while at VUMC, including Department Administrator for Vanderbilt Eye Institute and as Head of Patient Access. In his current position, he is strategically and operationally responsible for patient experience which includes goal setting and alignment, guest services, culture alignment, patient surveying and patient relations. He is most proud of VUMC’s continued improvement in patient experience, placing them in the upper quartile of performance as compared to national benchmarks.
Brian has dual master’s degrees in health services administration and business administration from Xavier University.
